Wastewater Filtration Systems & Sludge Dewatering Equipment
![]()
Compositech regularly provides equipment and services to industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants. Our designers, engineers, consultants, and sales staff are available to help with wastewater filtration systems projects from start to finish. Our involvement in these projects is typically under contract with an engineering company such as CH2M Hill, Black and Veatch, Hibbs and Todd, etc.
Compositech manufactures industrial filtration equipment for wastewater sludge dewatering systems, including twin wire belt filter presses, gravity tables (gravity belt thickeners) and associated equipment such as polymer dilution and injection, sludge pumps, and booster pumps for wash water. In addition to manufacturing our own industrial wastewater treatment filtration equipment, we are also able to provide replacement parts for other brands of belt press filters and gravity tables.
Industrial Wastewater Treatment Filtration Systems
Compositech is a leading manufacturer of belt press assemblies for industrial wastewater filtration and wastewater sludge dewatering systems. Our belt press filters are currently in operation in a variety of heavy industrial applications. With a cantilever frame allowing the use of seamless belts and an easy to clean steel tube frame, the Compositech belt press filter is well suited to abrasive sludge dewatering. In addition to the belt press filter we currently manufacture, Compositech designed and manufactured SernaTech belt press filters under a joint venture with Sernagiotto Italy from 1999 through 2002. All SernaTech belt press filters were manufactured at our Pearland facility. We currently service these machines and we keep a ready stock of SernaTech replacement parts in our inventory.

Compositech gravity tables are designed to concentrate sludge, by means of gravity drainage of water through a permeable synthetic belt. Our design provides for extended drainage of dilute, high volatile and unstable sludges. Our gravity tables are designed for continuous 24-hour per day, 365 day per year operation with minimal maintenance. To better accommodate specific customer needs, Compositech's gravity table accepts an optional cover for the filtration area. Other modifications can be made to the sludge dewatering systems to meet the requirements of specific applications.
In addition to our own manufactured gravity tables, Compositech services and stocks replacement parts for gravity tables made by other manufacturers. We stock feed boxes, bearings, doctor blades, plows, belts, mixers, gaskets, rollers and many other spare parts.
We manufacture Compositech replacement parts for Andritz, Ashbrook, Carter, Envirex, Enviroquip, Komline-Sanderson®, Parkson, SernaTech/Sernagiotto and various other belt press filter and gravity table manufacturers. Our replacement parts meet or exceed the quality and material of OEM components.

Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment is used for sludge dewatering in wastewater treatment?
Wastewater treatment plants commonly use twin-wire belt filter presses and gravity belt thickeners for sludge dewatering. These systems thicken sludge before mechanical pressing, reducing moisture content for more cost-effective disposal, landfilling, or beneficial reuse at municipal and industrial facilities.
What is the difference between a gravity belt thickener and a belt filter press?
A gravity belt thickener uses gravity drainage to pre-thicken dilute sludge before dewatering, while a belt filter press applies mechanical pressure between two belts to remove additional water. Many wastewater systems use both in sequence for optimal sludge dewatering results.
How do industrial and municipal wastewater filtration systems differ?
Municipal wastewater filtration systems typically process domestic sludge at consistent volumes, while industrial wastewater filtration must handle variable, often more concentrated, process-specific waste streams. Both rely on similar belt press and dewatering technology, customized for the plant's specific flow rate and sludge characteristics.
What role does polymer play in wastewater sludge dewatering?
Polymer is dosed and injected into sludge before dewatering to flocculate solids into larger particles, making them easier to filter. Proper polymer dilution and injection equipment improves cake dryness, increases belt press throughput, and reduces the overall cost of sludge dewatering operations.
Who typically installs wastewater filtration systems at treatment plants?
Wastewater filtration systems are usually installed under contract with engineering firms managing the treatment plant's design and construction, such as CH2M Hill or Black & Veatch. The equipment manufacturer typically supplies the belt press or dewatering system and provides ongoing parts and service support.
